UCAIR Summit

Our annual Summit event is a significant milestone that underscores the collective efforts of individuals and organizations, all committed to the important  cause of improving air quality in Utah. The event was a powerful testament to the positive impact we are making on our environment and the wellbeing of our communities. We were delighted to honor this year’s award recipients:

• Person of the Year: Dr. Randal Martin, for his outstanding contributions and dedication to air quality research and improvement.
• Community Partner of the Year: Utah Office of Energy Development, for their collaborative efforts and initiatives in promoting statewide sustainable energy practices.
• Business Partner of the Year: Dominion Energy, for their commitment to reducing corporate emissions and supporting clean energy projects.

We were privileged to feature Derek Parra, a two-time World Champion and three-time U.S. Champion speed skater, as our keynote speaker. Derek shared a wealth of knowledge and insights from his experiences, motivating us to strive for excellence in our efforts as we look toward hosting the 2034 Winter Olympic Games. Together, we are making a significant difference in Utah’s air quality, and we look forward to continuing this vital work in the coming year. Gas Can Exchange

On June 8, we hosted a successful Gas Can Exchange event, where we swapped  1,584 gas cans for cleaner, EPA-approved versions! This event was a true testament to the power of collective effort, and it wouldn’t have been possible without both the generous support of Chevron and Rio Tinto Kennecott and the enthusiastic participation of all who joined us. A special shout-out to our dedicated interns whose hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly. Thank you to every participant for taking this simple step for cleaner air in our communities. Your commitment to making Utah a better place to live and breathe is truly something to celebrate!
