Application information is available online at https://ucair2020.pennapowersdev.com/ucair-grant/ and will be accepted through August 3. Private sector companies, government entities, and educational institutions are eligible to apply. Awarded grants average $20K-$30K. Organizations selected to receive UCAIR Grants funding will be chosen based on the measurable impact the program or project would provide toward reducing emissions at home, in the community, and at work.
Now in its sixth year, the UCAIR grants program has awarded 47 grants totaling more than $1 million dollars. The grants program has supported projects including:
-
Idle-free technology for school buses
-
Replacing 2-stroke engine machinery with 4-stroke or electric engines for small businesses and homeowners
-
A statewide smoking vehicle hotline
-
The annual Clear the Air Challenge
“Utahns have so many ideas, studies and technology innovations that can help in the quest for better air, but many struggle to make them a reality because they lack the resources,” said UCAIR executive director Thom Carter. “These grants make it possible to turn concepts into practical solutions.”
Grant funding comes from private donations, grant recipients are encouraged to match a percentage of the grant amount.
